Hall Gate United Reformed Church
The Bread of Life Breakfast Service
Every Sunday morning from 8.00 am to 9.30 am in the Church Hall
Since November 1990 the church has run a drop-in for homeless people
We provide a free breakfast of cereal, bacon sandwich and tea, together with the opportunity to sit and talk.
We provide washing, showering and shaving facilities, and replacement clothing and blankets where needed.
Dirty clothing may be left to be washed during the week and collected the following week.
In addition, we provide people with a sandwich lunch to take away with them.
Although part of the mission and outreach of Hall Gate United Reformed Church,
volunteers are from other local churches as well as non-church people.
Most of our kitchen staff have been trained recently in the CIEH Foundation Certificate in Food Hygiene.
The Breakfast Service is financed by the volunteers themselves, and by generous donations from many sources.
Many friends keep us well stocked in good quality second hand clothes
