Our Mission and Ministry
We are a joint pastorate with our sister United Reformed Church in Intake.
Although we are two autonomous congregations, we seek to work more closely together.
| We seek to be a Reformed Church, united under Christ in worship, care and service. |
| We will ground our common life together on the Bible and prayer. |
| We look to the past with thankfulness and to the future with hope. |
| We will be a church for the whole of Doncaster, gathered as disciples, scattered as servants, to the glory of God alone. |
Our two churches share a common preaching team consisting of the minister and experienced lay people from both congregations including United Reformed Church nationally accredited lay preachers.
We offer a fairly traditional style of worship although occasionally we experiment with differing forms of worship, mainly at our evening service.

Outreach
The Bread of Life
Breakfast Service
We have worked with the homeless and disadvantaged since 1990. For more information about our “Bread of Life Breakfast Service” click here.
We seek to serve, help and support those with skills, qualifications and experience who work with the town centre 'community' - whether church members, local charities or professional agencies. So as part of our desire to be a community church we offer our premises at preferencial rates for those who work to support those who are disadvantaged in our society .

Education and Development
Emmaus Course
Several of our members are following the Emmaus Course, to equip them to witness to the Gospel outside the church environment. We meet on Sundays following morning worship at intervals of approximately 6 weeks, and always begin by sharing a meal together. New people are always welcome. You do not need to have attended previous sessions.
Bible Study
A small group led by one of the leaders of the House Group which meets to study the Word of God in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, meeting approximately monthly in the afternoons . It is held during the daytime to enable people who do not wish to come out at night to engage in bible study, and would welcome more members.

Wednesday Prayer Fellowship
Each Wednesday, except the first week of the month, at 11am, there is a short time of prayer, followed by fellowship, often sharing a light lunch, All are welcome.
House Group
Meetings of the House Group begin by sharing in prayer concerns - for the whole church family and others known to the group - and for situations in the world. It meets on the second Tuesday of each month in the evening in the homes of members, and seeks to give members the opportunity to learn and speak about their faith. Currently we are involved in bible study. Involvement in the House Group challenges members to apply what they talk about to their daily lives, and to grow to know God’s will.

Work with Young People
Brownies
Brownies have been meeting at Hall Gate since 1961 where they enjoy “fun and friendship" with others.
Recently Hall Gate Brownies celebrated their fiftieth anniversary with a display of Brownie activities over the last fifty years and a service of thanksgiving in the church.
The service was attended by parents and former Brownies and leaders, followed by a party in the church hall.

Brownies are part of GirlGuiding UK and are open to girls between the ages of 7 and 11.
We meet in the church hall on a Wednesday evening from 6.00pm to 7.30pm
For further information please call at the hall on a Wednesday evening (if the door is locked please ring the bell).

DONCASTER STREET PASTORS
On Saturday 3rd December twelve Street Pastors were commissioned in a special service at Hall Gate United Reformed Church. This was the first cohort of the Doncaster Street Pastor Initiative, which involves people from many different churches across Doncaster. Immediately following the service, at 9.30 pm, they took to the streets en masse for an hour to introduce themselves to the people of Doncaster who were enjoying a night on the town, and to make themselves known to the town centre door staff and licensees.

As representatives of the churches of Doncaster, Street Pastors will be out on the streets every Saturday evening from now on, engaging with drinkers - giving out flip-flops and water, and ensuring people get to transport home safely if in drink or separated from friends.
As the Church in Action on the Streets, Street Pastors will offer care, and a listening ear to those in distress.
If you want to find out more about Street Pastors, go to www.streetpastors.org.uk or e-mail doncaster@streetpastors.org.uk
