The Children's Centre

We have a modern purpose built Children’s Centre attached to the Church. It has a beautiful courtyard entrance with a water feature and garden area. Inside there is warm welcoming atmosphere with friendly receptionists and a café serving snacks and meals which are available to everyone.
The Centre’s aims are to:
• improve families’ social and emotional development
• improve families’ health
• improve children’s and adults’ ability to learn
• strengthen the community
It has been set up under the Government's SureStart scheme and is overseen by NCH to provide services for all young children and parents in the Intake, Belle Vue and Town Moor areas of Doncaster.

Infant Massage
|
This helps parents discover a new way of connecting and communicating their love through positive loving. This is a practical session where every parent can learn and provides real benefits to both baby and parent. It is a wonderful way for a parent or carer to keep in touch with their growing child.

|
|
Baby Talk
|
Parents are invited to come and share a social time together, have their babies weighed and talk to Health Visitors and Nursery Nurses who are available for advice.
|
|
|
Toy Library
|
|
|
Our library provides a wide range of quality toys for children under five which can be borrowed for a small fee for two weeks at a time. Our toys will help to keep the child happy as well as promoting their developmental needs.

|
|
Safety Scheme
|
We can help parents through safety in the home and help them to purchase all they require. We can provide fireguards, safety gates, video locks and child car seats. We have staff who are able to advise on all matters of child safety in the home.

|
Counselling Service
|
We offer a free counselling service for all registered families in the area. We have trained and committed staff who will work with families or individuals on a one-to-one basis
|

|
Musical Minis
|
This is a fun time music group for babies and toddlers of ages ranging from as young as six months to pre-school age. Each session introduces music and percussion to children in a relaxed group atmosphere. It concentrates on rhythm, song, sound and movement to encourage the children to develop musically.

|
|
Cultural Embrace
|
This is for families where English is a second language. They can meet in a relaxed non-challenging atmosphere to offer mutual support and seek friendly advice on anything to do with their child.

|
Talking Tots
|
|
|
This is held in the local library and parents and toddlers can listen to a story, enjoy a chat, borrow a book and join in with action songs and rhymes. Parents and children can also be helped to work together to discover things about using a computer.
|
|
|
Dad's Time
|
This is a time set aside for Dads, Grandads, Uncles and Step Dads to interact with their children aged between 0 and 11 years old without Mum getting in the way. They meet on a Saturday morning for breakfast, activities, visits and a lot of fun.

|
|
Cook and Eat
|
|
|
There are good friends linked to the Centre who will work with groups or one-to-one to explore their worries or concerns about food and cooking and health. This is for parents with children 5yr or under and they can decide what topics they want to cover either in our purpose built kitchen or at home.

|
Jumping Jelly Beans
|
This is a session for toddlers in a local sports hall where they can run and jump and exercise. The sessions are provided so that they can improve on their balance, coordination, agility, climbing, confidence and language skills as well as learning to interact with each other. Parents are encouraged (expected) to take a full active part in these sessions.

|
Baby Cafe
|
This is run in the Centre by the Breastfeeding Encouragement and Support Team. It is a time for new Mums to have a confidential chat about breast feeding and any problems they may be having. It is also a social time for Mums to get together and share their experiences.

Stay and Play
|
|
|
This is a wonderfully noisy time in our warm and friendly crèche for children 5 years or younger and their parents or carers to play. A wide range of different areas and toys are provided to encourage fun-filled and productive play.

Parent2Parent
|
Is designed to give parents support in being a parent, one-to-one advice, after school activities, help with discipline, children’s activities in school holidays, links to other organisations and a listening ear.
