Page under construction. The 17th anniversary of Christ Church's new building has just been celebrated. Old and new church photos were displayed for the Treasures Revealed in Leeds 2010 week and some will appear here. The page will eventually contain photos of the history of the two churches which came together to form Christ Church plus current events and activities and those of the past.

Music has always been important in the life of Christ Church which inherited rich traditions from the two churches which came together. Members of Concordia continue to take part in worship at Christ Church and elsewhere and take part in concerts at Christ Church and many other places. The members of Christ Church taking part in musicals have been augmented on most occasions by people from our sister church (Colton Methodist) , other churches in the Leeds East Circuit (formerly Richmond Hill) and on a number of occasions from elsewhere. A Roger Jones musical, 'Saints Alive' ,helped to bring Halton Methodist Church and Halton URC together and was later performed by the Circuit in the amphitheatre at Temple Newsam. A long line of further musicals followed (some mainly Christ Church, others Circuit & District). These included, not in chronological order:-'A New Creation'; 'Holy Boy';'Holy Man'; 'Pharaoh to Freedom'; 'Rock Nativity' ; 'Simeon'; 'Singing, Dancing Carpenter'; 'While Shepherds Watched' and 'Wildfire' Oh, and we also sing secular material! (As in our 'Sing the Musicals Concerts')(twice).

The Old & New Buildings
The two congregations of Halton Methodist Church and Halton United Reformed Church started worshipping together from Easter 1988 with services alternating in the two buildings. After a fire under the stage in the Methodist building it was decided that services would continue in future at the URC. The site of the latter was eventually sold and whilst the new church, on the old Methodist site, was being built we used Temple Moor School for services and some other activities carried on at Whitkirk Middle school.
