We meet at 10.30am every Sunday except the first in the month, when we meet altogether for a family service. All children are welcome from the age of 3 to 16. Young people of 16 or over may choose to remain with their friends in the upper group or stay in church with the rest of the congregation.
We leave the main service at around 10:50am and the classes last for about 40 minutes. We work from a Christian magazine called Roots and enjoy many activities including arts and crafts, drama, music, games and cooking. A theme is set for each week based on a Bible reading, but given a modern twist so the children can understand. This gives the children a good foundation to learn about the Bible and teachings of Jesus. Helen Lappage - Junior Church Leader .

Bible Study Groups
The Thursday morning Bible Fellowship group meets in term time from 9:15am to 10:30am, studying the Bible, in particular as it relates to our lives today. There is a short prayer time and opportunity for fellowship.
Housegroup
Thursday evening housegroup meets alternative Thursdays throughout the year (in the odd weeks in the calendar), except during Lent (when most members attend Churches Together in Leeds 15 / One Voice groups). We study a variety of materials, which include Bible study, but also look at other faiths, current issues and the writings of contemporary church leaders and theologians. Membership is fluid so you attend as you wish and as you are able; all are welcome. The venue (homes of members), time and material being studied are usually included in the Weekly Notices .
Currently (November 2009) we are looking at Vision4Life material including encounters with Jesus in Mark's Gospel

Guild Co-Presidents at the start of 50th Anniversary year
|
Christ Church Halton Guild is a group of men and women of all ages, which meets at 8:00pm on Tuesday evenings from September to Easter.
On Guild evenings we have a wide range of activities-: we share our faith, look at the issues that face our community and the wider world, enjoy cultural and artistic interests and participate in social activities (events).
In the summer there are coffee evenings and outings arranged, as well as a special Guild Sunday (or weekend).
The Guild is open to all, whether you have Christ Church connections, belong to another church, another faith group or have 'no' affinities.
A brochure listing the session’s events is published towards the end of July each year. The printed 2009-2010 session plan (for our 50th anniversary) is also available as an Adobe Acrobat file (see the end of this entry below). See inside it for the the letter from the co-presidents.
Changes to the programme, if any, are notified via the Weekly Notices . The programme for the month and any additional events can also be found in Contact (the monthly magazine of Christ Church and Colton Meyhodist Church).
For further details or if you have transport problems getting to Guild, please contact Barbara Harris (0113 293 4995).

Rainbows have fun! They take part in activities as part of our program, which is called the ‘Rainbow Jigsaw’. Our meetings are full of games and activities that provide opportunities for Rainbows to think for themselves, and help to make decisions about different things the unit does.
Everything the Rainbows do helps them to develop, giving them an opportunity to look, learn, laugh and love.
Rainbows are the youngest members of Girlguiding UK , starting once they reach the age of 5 and can then move on to Brownies at the age of seven.
The Unit meets each Thursday in term time from 5:30 to 6:30pm. Further details please contact Kathryn Glasby , Rainbow Guider (0113 264 0176).

We have lots of exciting activities for the children to try like cutting cooked spaghetti, handling play dough, glop and shaving foam as well as more traditional activities like books, jigsaws and the home corner. For those children who need more physical activities we have climbing and balancing equipment, tunnels and lots of singing and dancing.

Our club is called W.R.V.S. Halton Luncheon Club . We have been operating as such for more than 27 years on 5 May 2009.
The club offers a good nourishing meal of home made soup, a main course and a pudding for £2.30, plus 10p for a cup of coffee or tea, which is optional. There is no joining fee or weekly subs, but we do have a raffle, prizes mostly supplied by our members.
There is a pantomime trip and a meal afterwards usually in January or February and if there is anything suitable a further trip through the year. Maundy Thursday is celebrated with chocolate and we do have a Christmas Lunch.
Our members come from Halton, Whitkirk and Crossgates. We are a happy band and in spite of the hard work, our volunteers enjoy Thursdays as much as the members. We are always happy to see new members and Barbara can be contacted on Leeds 2732949.

The premises are used regularly by both church and community groups as shown above.
The Main Hall is very popular with local parents for young children’s birthday parties, and there are other rooms of various sizes available both for regular or one off events. Our movable internal walls (on ground and first floors) afford great flexibility in size and areas available. The ground floor can be made into one, two or three areas in six different combinations i.e.
1. Church (singly)
2. Main hall (singly)
3. Lounge (singly)
4. Church + hall
5. Church + lounge
6. Church + hall + lounge
Ground floor The building is fully accessible on the ground floor, with an induction loop system in the worship area, hall and coffee lounge. There are accessible toilets on the ground floor.
First floor On the first floor, reached by stairs, there are meeting rooms, toilets, a small kitchen and a creche with its own child sized toilets and shower unit. The creche is soundproofed, wired for sound and overlooking the worship area which enables anyone who needs to leave worship with a small child to continue to take part.
Parking There are 25 spaces in the car park at the rear and additional parking nearby if necessary (contact us for details). Directions to Christ Church are downloadable (see below).
